CANADIAN WHEAT.
Glutted Market Problem.
OTTAWA, Aug. 13.-The Minister for
Trade (Mr. J. A. MacKinnon) announced
today that it had been decided to ap
point s Canadian Wheat Board Advisory
Committee, comprising representatives of
prairie growers, exporters, millers, ship
pers and consumers.
Mr. MacKinnon, in an earlier state
ment. indicated that the Government
might be forced to declare a state of
national emergency in order to deal with
a wheat market glutted with a bumper
crop estimated at 500,000,000 bushels.
One of the immediate problems would
be to finance farmers compelled to held
grain on their farms because of lack of
storage. The Minister emphasised that
the problem was of such an emergency
character that it was very likely the
prairie Legislatures would be required to
legislate permitting Federal actioni
