NAMING STUD PIGS.
Word "Canadian" Prohibited.
The Federal Council Meeting of the
Australian Stud Pig Breeders' Society,
which was attended by Mr. W. G. Burges,
as representative of the West Australian
branch, has decided to alter the rules
governing the naming and marking of
pigs bred by its members.
The word "Canadian" can no longer
be used, as it has been found from ex
perience that it has, in some instances,
been applied to animals which are not
of pure Canadian blood. Another inm
portant decision is that all Tamworth
pigs must be tattooed in a similar man
ner to white pigs, while all Berkshires
must be ear tagged.
Pull details of these new rules will be
forwarded to registered pig breeders in
due course.
