THE ROTHERMERE CASE.
Legal Costs Total £15,000.
LONDON (by Air Mail).-The action
brought unsuccessfully by Princess
Stephanie Hohenlohe-Waldenberg against
Lord Rothermere, recently was one of the
most expensive in the King's Bench for
some time. A writer in the "Daily Tele
graph" says that it is understood that a
fair estimate of its total cost is £15,000.
The daily cost was about £1,000, but al
though the case lasted only six days it
had been long in preparation and there
had been a number of expensive consul
tations and preliminary skirmishes. The
three silks engaged received high brief
fees, with substantial daily refreshers. The
standard would be set by Sir William
Jowitt, who for a long time has been get
ting opulent briefs in the Lords.
