Players Selected To
Train
With the possibility of playing a
return match against the Springbok
eleven when it passes through Fre
mantle on its homeward journey at
the end of this month, the board
of control of the W.A. Soccer As
sociation has chosen 19 players
from whom a State eleven will be
selected. The former Caledonian
goalkeeper and association presi
dent, A. Marr has been appointed
coach and the players will meet at
Subiaco Oval tonight when arrange
ments will be completed for train
ng.
The following players have been
chosen: Caledonian: D. Baxter, T.
Morris, P. O'Neil. North Perth: T.
Cahill, Mansfield, R. Martin. Spear
wood: A. Beale, Scott. Queen's Park:
J. Smethurst, R. Werner. Swan
Valley: F. McShane, Svilicich,
Radich. Swan Athletic: G. Nicholas.
South Perth: Ainley, Turner. Mac
cabean: Hertz. Perth Corinthian:
Clark. Victoria Park: Armanasco.
A PROITEST UPHELD.
A protest by the 8pearwood Soccer
Club against the refere's action in allow
ing a goal after the whistle had blown
(signalling to stop play) in the first
league match between Caledonian and
Spearwood at Coogee on June 21 has
been upheld by the protests and disputes
board and it has ordered that the game
be replayed.
When called before the board the
referee (T. Morris) said that be did
accidentally blow his whistle when he
stumbled but he immediately called play
on. The Caledonian club has appealed
against the decision. The appeal will be
heard by the board tonight.
OfBcials of the Caledonian club are
of the opinion that the referee's decision
on points oP fact connected with the play
shall be final so far as the result of the
game is concerned.
