EVANSTON GOLD
Sufficient Water Available
Progress report by the manager
of Evanston Gold (N.L.) for the
28-day period ended June 8, 1947,
discloses that in the milling section,
1,712 tons of ore were treated for
a recovery of 438 fine oz. The ball
mill ran a total of 634 hours and
battery. 570 hours. The platt oper
ated successfully, but arrangements
were being made for finer grinding
and to bring the Wifley table into
the circuit to reduce the value of
the residues. Tests had been car
ried out on these lines and had
shown that satisfactory reduction
in residue value would be effected.
The large tube mill was to be in
stalled immediately, which would al
low an increase of tonnage to the
capacity of the Oliver filter, and
would give a finer product for cyani
dation. No. 2 thickener was almost
complete and the slimes retreatment
plant was about to conhfence
operations. Diamond drilling pro
gramme was being continued and
further development of the Blue
Peter lode undertaken.
Sufficent water has now been
obtained to operate the plant con
tinuously and to allow the com
mencement of sands retreatment.
The water supply position was much
better and the two wells were mak
ing in the vicinity of 26,000 gallons
a day. A gradual increase was ex
pected as sinking and enlarging No.
2 well continued.
During the period 1,489 tons of
ore were hauled, averaging 7.73dwt.
In A9l section, 927 tons were -ob
tained from the main lode averag
ing 7.5dwt., the bulk of the ore
being broken from the development
work on the continuation of the
main lode west of A10 shaft. The
main west drive from A10 had been
advanced to 93 feet, the ore-body
averaging between four and five feet
in width. From A8 section 348
tons of ore were hauled averaging
10.9dwt. and from the Harbour)
Lights deposit 221 tons were broken,
averaging 4.ldwt. Values on this
section had now increased and the
ore-body looked promising, the last
bulk samples assaying 18.6dwt.
