NEW MOTOR CYCLE ENGINE
AN AUSTRALIAN INVENTION
(A.P.A. Message.)
London. January 24.
A handful of privileged persons wit-
nessed a private demonstration of what
experts describe as a most remarkable
motor cycle engine. It consists of ono
cylinder which is double shafted and
has two pistons. lt was designed by
an Australian engineer named Werry.
Although the engine is nominally rated
at *2\ horsepower, it is claimed to de-
velop 12 horsepower. On a bench test
it did 14,000 revolutions a minuto,
with a roar like an aeroplane engine,
but virtually without vibration, though
it was nut even fastened down, lt is
prophesied that tho engine, which will
ho on the market in a few months,
will, on the mad. develop four times
tho power of an ordinary motor engine
of similar power at half the running
cost. ^ Mr. Worry is applying the same
principle to a six cylinder aeroplane
engine, in which tho Air Ministry is
showing keon interest.
