M.U.I.O.O.F. held its annual social at
the Trades Hall on Saturday night

charee o¿ the musical arrangements.
A very enjoyable time was spent,. a
long list of toasts being honored .andi
a fine number of musical items were,,
presented. During the evening three'
presentations were made. Past district
master's jewels were presented to Dis-
trict Secretary Bro. J. Cashman and
Past District Masters Bro. A. H.
Strempel and H. Turner; The recipi-
ents breifly responded.
Those. present included a number of
members from , the Loyal Menindie
Lodge,, which . was. opened in . March
last. A plentiful supply of refresh-
ments, both liquid and otherwise, was
kept up by a committee appointed for
the purpose. " }
The following toasts were honored :
"The King and the Order,'.', proposed
by P.D.M. Bro. A. Kelly and honored
by everyone present ; "The . District
.Master" (Bro. A. F. Sonneman), pro-
posed.bv P.D.M. Bro. E. Bennetts and

proposed by P.D.M. E. T. Maley and
responded to by District Secretary Bro.
J. Cashman; ''The Blue Lodges," pro-
posed by P.D.M. Bro. J. J. Moylan
and responded to by Bro. A. Wiehert;
"The Loyal Menindie Lodge," proposed
by P.D.M. Bro. E. Bennetts and re-
sponded to by N.G. Bro. L. Harris;
"The Chairman, Master of Ceremonies,
and Musical Director," proposed by
N.G. Bro. li. Harris and responded to
by the officers.
The music for the night was given by ?
an orchestra, comprising Messrs. . W.
Evans. F. Hannett. H. Holland, and
R.-Nankivell, and vocal, instrumental,
.and dancing items were presented by
j Messrs. R. Cotton, C. Turner, A. Hol-
land. W. Piper and doll. H. T. Reed,

The proceedings closed at a late hour
with the singing of ."Auld Lang

The Sydney correspondent of-"The
Miner" telegraphs that the death . oc
. cured on Sunday morning of Sir David
Storevj M.L.C., at the age of 68 years,'
after several «*eeks' illness. Pe was
.the managing director o^David Storey
and Company Limited, merchants, and
a chairman of directorR of the Insur-
ance -Office of Australia Limited. He
represented Randwick in the Legislative
? Assembly fdr 25 years, and was Minis
, ter for Health in the Holman Nation
alist Government. He resigned and was
'? appointed to the Legislative Council.
He was knighted last year. .
