There is now on view at 3, BUNDLE-STBEET,
the FINEST DISPLAY of INSTRUMENTS to be
seen in the Southern Hemisphere. The Metaoro
logical Department, for variety, is unsurpassed in
the Australian Colonies, and it is the only collection
of goods worthy the name of a ' stock' in Adelaide.
E. Sawtell's first practical experience with instru
ments dates back as far as 1832, and besides repair
ing, making, and selling Barometers, &c, &c, as
long ago as 1853 in South Australia he was one of
the first to supply data for the meteorological
column to the morning papers in this colony.' It is
impossible to enumerate everything, but among the
collection may be found Self-recording and Plain
Barometers, Thermometers, Hypsometers, Solar
Badiatim Thermometers, Standard Bain Gauges,
Anemometers, Large and Pocket Spectroscopes,
Telescopes, Hygrometers, &c, &c, &c. (Kew certifi
cated). These instruments are all made absolutely
regardless of expense, the aim in view being to
supply the Adelaide public with as correct instru
ments as can be obtained anywhere in the world.
My instruments are in use in the Adelaide,
Torrens, and Western Australian Observatories.
