AIR WING FOR NAVY
URGED
Lord Keyes' s Advice To
Australia
MELBOURNE. November 21.
The Australian Fleet must have
an air arm and must become air-<*>
minded, Adml. of the Fleet Lord
Keyes said today at a luncheon
tendered bim at the Hotel Windsor
by the Victorian Government.
Australia had the nucleus ot a
splendid navy. Lord Keyes said,
and it must take its wings. With
the great open spaces of sea and
land around and within Australia
it was essential that Australia
breed a race of young naval air
men. Australia could begin per
haps with a small carrier and bulk!
up a naval air service tbat would
make the navy airmirjded. The
Pacific operations were proving
nothing more forcibly than the
need for an air wing for the navy
