FARM

WILL COST £40.000.
BRISBANE, Mar. IG.-The Eade
Farm aerodrome win benefit muter
the latest scheme for civil aviation
expansion \ announced by the Civil
Aviation Minister (Mr. A. S. Drake
ford) to-night. The scheme authori-
ses an expenditure of £40,000 for
the purchase of new radio equip-
ment to, modernise point to point
communication between Australian
airports.
At present most of the radio equip-
ment at Eagle Farm is former 'mili-
tary equipment left in Australia by the
American Air Force under agreement
between the Australian and American
Governments. This equipment must be
maintained so that American planes can
use the airfield as an international ter-

On busy circuits, transmitters are to
be installed which will be connected to
teletype machines. This will enable all
meteorological information, position re-
porting, and other operational traffic to
be transmitted through Australia with
a maximum delay of five minutes.
"When the plan ls completed," said
Mr. Drakeford, "Australia will.naive a
point-to-point communication system
equal to any in the world."
