WEDDING .
POULSEN—COWLES.
The Central Methodist Church,
Cairns, was the scene of a very pretty
wedding on Saturday, October 19, at
3.30 p.m., when Rev. Rowley joined
in Holy Matrimony Norma Roselene,
youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T.
H. Cowles, of McDonnell's Creek, to
Norman William, third son of Mr and
Mrs. F. Poulsen, 211a Sheridan-street,
Cairns.
The bride, who entered the church on
the arm of her father, who gave her
away, was handsomely dressed in a
wedding gown of rich bridal satin with
heart-shaped neckline trimmed with
large pearl buttons down the front,
with tight-fitting sleeves peaked at
wrist, and looped and buttons from
wrist to elbow. The classically-cut
skirt fell into a long and graceful
train. The frock was kindly lent by
the bride's sister, Mrs. C. Smith. The
beautifully embroidered tulle veil was
held in place with an off-the-face
heart-shaped coronet of lace,, net and
orange blossom. She carried a sheaf,
of white gladioli with asparagus fern
and white satin ribbon trailers, at-
tached with a white horseshoe. She
completed her toilette with three
strings of pearls and earrings.. The
pearls were kindly lent by the bride's
eldest sister, Mrs. C. Dalton. The
bride's attendants were Miss Francis
Bould and Miss Marie Drew, a niece
of the bride. Both maids dressed
alike in pink, and green respectively.
The chief maid was dressed in pink,
tight-fitting top and frilled down the
centre front, trimmed with green bow,
and large puffed sleeves and full skirt,
with frill down gores, and rosettes -
round the full skirt, trimmed with
green bows. Miss Drew wore
green made on the same lines, but had
pink bows on the centre front and on
the full skirt. Both girls wore pink
gladioli and pink tulle headdresses,
and carried a lovely bouquet of pink
gladioli and asparagus fern and pink
and green satin ribbon trailers. The
bouquets were made in the shape of
a fan. The bouquets were the work of
the bride's aunt, Mrs. Gallet, and a
friend of the bride, Mrs. Eyles, of
Babinda.
I The duties of best man were carried
out by an old friend of the groom, Mr.
Mick Fitzpatrick, and the groom's
brother was groomsman.
The reception was held at the resi-
dence of Mr. and Mrs. Smith, where
80 guests were received by the bride's-,
mother and sister, also the' bride-
groom's mother. Mrs. Cowles wore: a
navy floral, frock with matching acces-
sories and Mrs. Smith a blue peplum
suit heavily beaded, with blue hat and
black accessories. Mrs. Poulsen was
in a navy and white frock with white
accessories. The duties of chairman
were carried out by an old friend of
the bride's family, - Mr. Harry Davis,
the usual toasts being honoured. Many
telegrams were read. The bride and
groom were the recipients of many,
beautiful and costly presents and
cheques. The beautiful three-tiered
wedding cake, was made by the bride's
mother and iced by Mrs. Horton, of
Cairns.
The happy couple left for Kuranda
to spend their honeymoon. The bride
wore a navy and white frock with
navy accessories. They, will live in
Cairns.
