YOKOHAMA RAID. I
EXCELLENT RESULTS. j
. WASHINGTON. May 29 (A.A.P.).
A- 20th Air Force communique said
that two Super-Foçtresses were lost in
the Yokohama raid'to-day: There was
little fighter opposition, but . flak was
meagre to intense. The crews report-
ed .excellent results írom visual bomb-
ing
The United Press correspondent at
Guam says that over 450. Super-Fort-
resses directed incendiaries .'.against
three sections of Yokohama-the har-
bour, which in peace-time handled 25
uer cent, of Japan's shipping: a heavy
industrial'area to the north-east which
was built on-reclaimed land; " and mod-
ern residential and commercial sec-
tions, which were completely rebuilt
in 1923 after the earthquake.
? The raid raised the weight of bombs
drooped on Japan in the past J6 days
to, 20.800 tons. . The intensity was com-
parable with'~fher intensity , dropoed on
Germany during the pre-îrivàsion air
campaign. .: , .
