GENERAL NEWS.
A bridge tournament will be conducted
tonight in Monash House, at the corner
of King and Hay streets.
Officers of the Criminal Investigation
Branch are seeking the owner of a man's
gold wrist watch, bearing on the cover
an inscription including the initials
$RW.L.
The Rev. C. A. Jenkins will be the
speaker at the lunch-hour service in Wes
ley Church today, his subject being "The
Helping Hand." An organ recital by Mr.
E. S. Craft will commence at 1 o'clock.
On Tuesday evening the Bayswater
Road Board held its frst meeting since
the annual election. Mr. M. M. Roger
was reappointed chairman' and Mr. F.
D. Greenalsh vice-chairman.
Mr. A. Bennett was re-elected chair
man, and Mr. W. C. Brown vice-chair
man, of the Nedlands Road Board on
Tuesday night for the third consecutive
term.
The Subiaco Horticultural Society will
conduct its eighth annual autumn show
in the social hall, Rokeby-road, on Mon
day next. There will be a special dis
play of single chrysanthemums Town in
pots by members of the society.
Under the auspices of the women's
auxiliary of the Norwood sub-branch of
the Returned Soldiers' League, a jumble
sale will be held this morning in the
Temperance Hall, Museum-street. at
10.30 o'clock.
Tenor singers who would like to join
a male voice choir are invited by the Metro
politan Gleemen to attend at the Central
Methodist Mission Hall (upstairs). Mur
ray.street, just west of William-street,
on Monday night at 7.30 o'clock. They
should report to the honorary conductor
(Mr. C. N. Langsford).
The resignation of Mr. A. Cruikshanks
as a member of the Osborne Park Agri
cultural Society was received at a meet
ing of that body at its monthly meet
ing on Monday. He objected to the presi
dent and two vice-presidents having op
posed secession from the Perth Road
Board and refused to withdraw his resig
nation.
