{SECOND CAIRNS CONCERT.
Millie Dolores' second and last con-
ceit in i-a.rus aitruçted a large
autÄence in the Shire Hali, last even-
ing. Warm as was the reception the
singer- received on the occasion of
nor jirst concert, it was greater last'
night, and there were many demon-
strations on the part of the audjencn
at the conclusion of the different
numbers "La Romanesca" and
"Le ' Colebre menuet d' Exaudet"
were the opening pieces, both being
of the romantic style, .and were giv-
en that splendid interpretation which'
won for-tho - singer a spontaneous
burst of applause. "My Moths:
bids me bind my hair" (Haydn): was
remarkable for the enunciation on
the part of the singer, which, com-
bined with the pure sweet tones,
was the signal for another demon-
stration on the part of the. audience
The other items on' the programme
were "Bid, me discourse" (Bishop):
"Casta Dl?a" from ''Nonna'''; "Wie-
genlied" agVergebliches : Ständchen,1"
and "Chanson de Florian," ¿(Godard)
Recis "Gaultier Molde".'.and Aria
"Caro Nome" from "Rigoletto",
"Wind in the Trees" (Goring Tho-
mas); "Within a Rose" (Schuman):
and "The Swallows." The richness
ot the lon« and the splendid inter-
pretation given to each simply held
the audience speH bound during the
rendition and at the close-of each
number, there-was defeaning applause.
As encores. Dolores rendered "Last
-Rose of Summer.v "Laughing Song"
"Bobin 'Adair"'' "¿¿ve was once a
little boy," and "The Lass .with the
delicate air." fThe accomplished
pianist. Mr. Selwyn Shrimplin. found)
a very warm reception with thj'eaud
ience and his contributions1 to. tho
programme were highly appreciated.
