HONEY IN THE STATE.

leading columns o£ this journal showing
the production of boncv in this State
during 1903 and 1904. The figures re-
lating to th© production for 1ÖÜ5 had
not then bsen completed, but this after-
noon thov were prepared by the Statis-
tical Department, and were made avail-
able. Tho production of honey is shown
to have been almost entirely confined
to the South-West and Central, and
Southern ! portions ; of the State«, only
three hives being jriven for the South
and North-West portion. Bee-farming
was represented in tho South-Weet bv
10,067 frame hives, yielding 481,6241b 0f
honey, and 2,631; box hives, yielding
G9,4701b. The total for the portion was.
therefore. 12,698 hives, from which the
output of honey was 557,0941b. In
addition to this. 9.19S!b. of beeswax was
produced. In the central and southern
portion the hives numbered 239 frames,
giving 3.1fi01b. of honey, and 58 boxes,
from which 8301b. were obtained, or a
total of 297 hives, yielding 3,9901b. of
honcv. and 1051b. of beeswax. The

and 70.30011). invectively, or 552,08311). in
all. This almost doubles the produc-
tion of 1901, which was 237,4981b.. .nnd
more than trebles the yield' of 1803,
