BIRTHS.
At Bridgewater, on the 23rd instant, the wife of
Mr. R . McVilly, of a daughter.
At Liverpool street, Hobart Town, on 25th inst.,  
the wife of Mr. John White, of a daughter.
At Park-street, Hobart Town, August 26th, Mrs.
J. E. Risby, of a son.
On 28th instant, at Ive Gill Cottage, Frances-
street, Battery Point, Mrs. David Bowtell, of a
daughter.
MARRIAGES.
At Trinity Church, on the 29th instant, by the
Rev. F. Hales, Jeremiah Watson Brand, second son
of the late Mr. Robert Brand, of Launceston, to
Sophia Ann, eldest daughter of the late Mr. Charles
Edwards, of Launceston, Tasmania.
On Sunday morning, August 25th, at the resi-
dence of " Smith & Poole." Brisbane-street, Laun-
ceston, by the Rev. R. K. Ewing, was married,    
Robert Zechariah Poole, formerly of Debenham,
Suffolk, to Beatrice Smith, late of Edinburgh.
On the 22nd July, at Riverton, New Zealand, by
the Rev. J. McGilvary, Thomas Smith Wright, of
Dipton Bush Station, Moonlight Ranges, eldest son
of Isaac Wright, Esq., of Hobart Town, to Frances
Marian Mervin, daughter of the late Rev. Francis
Arthur Jackson, Vicar of Ricall, Yorkshire.
DEATHS.
At the Cornwall Hospital, on the 27th instant,
Margaret Woods, aged 30 years.
On the 28th inst., William Alexander, youngest
son of Capt. A. T. Woods, aged 15 months.
At Hobart Town, Mr. James Blackman.
On the 17th instant, Charles Willoughby Barnes,
Esq. (formerly of Hobart Town), late of the St.
Kilda Family Hotel, Clyde-street, St. Kilda, aged
51 years.
