COLD.
GOLCONDA.
Queensland.-The mining manager re
ports under date the 8th inst :--"The
lode is looking very well, both in the rise
and level."
BLUE TIER.
Victoria.-The mining manager reports
that the reef in the winzeo for the last 15ft
was going quite flat, and it then turned to
go down on its proper course, when he
struck a body of water coming up from
the bottom of the winze, in consequence
of which he discontinued the sinking.
NINE-MILE SPRINGS.
Golden Era.--The mining manager re
ports that the shaft is down 40 feet and
timbered.
West Chuem.-The mining manager tele
graphed on Saturday" that 165 tons of
stone had been put through the battery
for the week, and 270 ounces of amalgam
taken from the plates and ripples. The
mine was looking very well, and the reef
was 3ft wide in the eastern drive.
MATHINNA.
City.--Mr P. Trvine, under date 4th
inst., writes :-An agreement has been
made with two men to take a small crush
ing of 15 to 20 tons out. They are to get
out the stone, and land it on the surface,
for Os per ton. They will take this stone
out in the upper workings, and if it is pay
able, the old shaft will be cleaned out, so
as to see what it is like lower down. lMr
Irvine is always under the impression
that the crushing taken out went
4idwt. to the ton. The contrac
tors have driven Oft or 7ft. further
in the south drive, but there is no
sign of any stone, and it has therefore
again stopped, and stoping started. The
stone is very small in all the stopes, butit
must all come out now, and any mullock
picked out of it. It is thought that there
is stone furtlher south, the manager hopes
that circumstances will permit for a drive
to be put in to test it, but he knows that
gold is wanted as quick as possible. The
battery report for the week is 45 tons
crushed, and 22oz. of amalgam off the
plates. On the 8th inst. Mr Irvine re
ports :-The lease has been pegged off,
and notices put up. The North City shaft
has been taken inside the boundary of the
claim. The plates are looking a little
better since last report.-Mercury.
