Portable Hand-power Machine for
Drilling Holes in Rocks. and other
substances.
This is to notify that HENRY FRAN
CIS PARSONS, of the city of San
Francisco, in the State of California,
one of the United S:ates of America,
Machinist, did, on the twenty-first day of
February last past, deposit at the office
of the Colonial Secretary, at Hobart, a
specification or instrument in writing
under his hand and seal, particularly
describing and ascertaining the nature of
the said invention and in what manner
the same is to be performed; and that by
creason of such deposit the said invention
is protected and secured to him exclu
sively for the term of six months thence
next ensuing: and I do further notify
that the said Henry Francis Parsons has
given notice in writing at my office of his
intention to proceed with his application
for Letters Patent for the saidl invention,
and that I have appointed Friday, the
sixth day of May next, at twelve o'clock at
noon, atmy office, to hear and consider the
said application and all objections
thereto; and I do hereby require all per
sons having an interest in opposing the
grant of such Letters Patent to leave
before that day, at my office, at
Hobart, particulars in writing of their
objections to the said application, other
wise they will be precluded from urging
the same.

MEREDITH AND WRIGLEY'S
LEASES.
A meeting of the promoters in Mere
dith and Wrigley's leases, Blue Tier, was
held yesterday at the office of the Com
pany. It was agreed to commence opera
tions at once, and Mr Meredith is
instructed to put on men forthwith to
prove the gold-bearing leaders which have
lately been discovered on the leases. A
call, the first, of £2 per share was made,
and is payable on or before Monday, the
14th March, 1881.

joining the Blue Bell Co.'s claim, Mussel
Roe, vicinity of Mount Cameron, on
which lease money, &c., has b,,en paid,
survey cffected, &c., is offered to the
public on undermentioned terms :
It is proposed to form a Company of
one hundred promoters' shares, fifty of
which are offered to the public at £25
per share. On this claim nearly £100
has been expended in prospecting, with
following results :
On the No. 1 line two shafts have been
sunk 10 and 20ft respectively, proving
this reef 3Et, (three feet) wide and carry
ing good gold. On the No. 2 line a shaft
has been sunk 8ft, cutting three gold
bearing leaders 7, 8, and 10 inches wide
respectively, and making into what is ex
pected will form another strong reef. On
the No. 3 line favourable surface indica
tions have been met, and a considerable
amount of deep trenching has been done
with favourable results. Work is now
being continued on the reefs already
found.
Capital prospects can be obtained from
any portion of the reefs by hand crush
ings.
It is proposed to place £250 to the
credit of the Company for future opera
tions.
The Blue Bell Company, the adjoining
claia, have purchased crushing plant and
are about to erect same.
Mr Creelman has arrived with a con
siderable quantity of the stone, which may
be inspected at the office of the under
signed, where all necessary information
can be obtained and to whom applica
5 tions for shares should be addressed.
