I WARTS ON COWS' TEATS J
'MJ?." writes:-Kindly advise as to cause
and cure, if any, of the bereunder de-
scription of dairy cow's teat disease.
Over the teats of the cow there are a
good many small growths close one an-
other or not, so that they make the
surface rough. What is the name of
the disease, is any remedy for it, is
it contagious to man or cows by milk-
ing- her, or by having a cow with such
disease with othersP Has castor oil
any remedy quality for the above dis-
ease?
Mr. J. L. Burns. Government Veterinary
Surgeon, says:-Warte are probably the
trouble. Many remedies have been, tried
and recommended. Castor oil is used with
success in some instances and us applica-
tion should get a trial. It is a harmless
-remedy. The warts may also be touched
with silver nitrate or even nitric acid pre*
viding care is exercised. The nitric acid
must be diluted with water and a weak
solution should be need at first so as to
see how it acts. A strong soda solution in
water is another remedy. -Cutting the warta
off by the knife or by means of a ligature
is-another. There need be no fear that
man or other animals in contact will suf-
fer.
