STOCKS AND SHARES.
THE COURSE OF THE MARKET.
Messrs. J. S. Read ami Co.. stockbrok-
ers, Perth, reported on Thursday:
The improvement which set in at the
close of lufrt week has not been maintain-
ed, the leading stocks, notably Great
Fiugalls, again -showing a tendency to
sag, and the medium-priced descriptions
were quiet, owing to the attention of
Adelaide operators being still largely
ecufiucd to silver stocks, which! also
j marked lower values all round. Associa
I ted opened at 42s.. and with meagre busi-
ness, fell away to 4.1s. in Adeláide'ánd to
38s. 9d. iii London.
Northerns were somewhat firmer, with
email business at 21c. 6d. to 21s. lid.
Great Boulders remained firm at 23s
L 3d.
Great Boulder Perseverance fluctuated
between 31s. 9d. and lis. 4¿d., the latter
being the latest selling quotation from
Loudon.
Golden Poles showed little more acti-
vity, 4,400 shares changing hands at
prices ranging from 8s. 6a. to 9s. 2d.
Kalgurlis were unquoted.
South Kalgurli are firm at 28s.
Haiuaults were quoted Od. lower at
27s. 3d.
.Oroyas maintained firmness at 58s.
Great Fingall*, after being ii) good de-
mand un to «fc5 3s., fell back to M 18s.
IJd., seller.
Lake View Consols were out of favour
nt 20s.
In small stocks, lhere was a heavy
turnover in Bayley*« at somewhat wide
[ Iv fluctuating rates, from 2s. 7d. to ls.
I0d., to 2s. 4Jd.
Great Boulder Main Beef had a much
better market, with a recovery of 6d.
to 3s.
Norseman stocks had a great set-back.
Princess Royals, at out time touching
Cs. Cd., from whick a recovery took place
to 8s. 3d.
Cuinberlauds fell ls. ld., to/ 3s. 3d.
Royal Centrals only had Sd. bid, with
3d. rall paid.
Victory United were freely exchanged,
and showed a fal! ol' 5d. to ls. Sd., from
which tjifre was a recovery to ls. 9d.
YT. Waihi were a trifle firmer, anti
C.500 changed hands from 2s. ld. to 2s. 3d.
The foature of the market in small
Etocks was the good demand for Kiusel
las. on the i-f.port ed valuable develop-
ment, from being unmarketable, there
were several buyers at 2s. and upwards. .
Noifh Boulders recovered to td., Queen
Margarets to 4s. 9d.. and Queensland
Menzies weakest to 2s.-Sd.
