Pt. Augusta
A decision to lift the ban on
hotel bars as from today was
made by the executive of the
Australian Federated Union of
Australian Federated Union of
Locomotive Enginemen follow
ing a meeting of the Combined
Unions* Council last night.
The secretary of the Port
Augusta division of the AFULE
(Mr. A. Musgrave) said after the
meeting that as far as his union
was concerned the ban was
lifted. He understood that the
Vehicle Builders' Union and
the Painters' Union would take
similar action.
Mr. Musgrave said that while
his union was not affiliated with
the CUC. the ban had been sup
ported.
The move came as a. surprise,
as a vote of members of unions
participating in the ban taken
recently was in favor of con
tinuing the ban. which was im
posed on January 24 as a pro
test against an increase of id.
on schooner glasses and Id. on
quarts.
Other unions are expected to
continue the ban.
