MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS
MAYOR RETURNED UNOPPOSED
EIGHT CANDIDATES FOR
COUNCIL
NO OPPOSITION FOR AUDITOR
Kalgoorlie, Nov. 22.
At 4 p.m. yesterday nominations
closed for the Kalgoorlie mayoralty,
four vacancies in the council and
for the auditorship. The retiring
Mayor, Mr. Ernest Elisha Brim-
mage, was re-elected unopposed for
a further term.
The four retiring councillors Crs.
L. A. Alman, P. C. Hunt, P. N.
Tippett and A. Bingley, again of-
fered their services, and when nomi-
nations closed there were no less
than eight candidates offering for
the four vacancies. They were:
Alman, Lewis Arthur (proposed
by David W. Kyle, seconded by P.
N. Tippett.)
Bennetts, George (proposed by
Walter J. Bailey, seconded by N. C.
Thomas).
Bingley, Albert (proposed by Ro-
bert F. Saunders, seconded by John
H. May).
Elliott, R. M. B. (proposed by D.
E. Sullivan, seconded by E. J.
Treby).
Hunt, Percy Campling (proposed
by Robert I. Linton, seconded by
W. F. Widgery).
Saunders, A. D. (proposed by W.
J. Allan, seconded by George
Boyce).
Tippett, Peter Norman (proposed
by G. H. Rainsford, seconded by
Lewis A. Alman).
Walker, G. F. J. (proposed by
Ernest Dawe, seconded by G. A.
McQuid).
For the position of auditor, the
only nomination received was that
of the retiring gentleman, Mr. Er-
nest Reginald Fleming (proposed by
Dawson C. Hamilton, seconded by
L. S. Clarke).
A poll, therefore, for the election
of four councillors will be taken on
Wednesday, November 28, commenc-
ing at 9 o'clock in the morning and
closing at 7 o'clock in the evening.
The polling places will be the Town
Hall, St. John's Parish Hall,
Brookman street, and Harley street
church.
The mayor and auditor, being the
only persons nominated, were de-
clared elected by the Returning Offi-
cer, Cr. A. G. Philpott, and the
first to offer his congratulations to
the mayor, was Cr. J. Stevens, of
Fremantle.
For the convenience of absentee
electors, who are in the metropoli-
tan area, the following justices have
been appointed to act in connection
with the election: the town clerk,
Perth; the town clerk, Fremantle;
Mr. F. A. Launder, Commercial
Travellers' Club Perth - and Mr. F.
A. McMullen, Perth. Application
may also be made to the Returning
Officer, Cr. A. G. Philpott.
