HOCKEY.
Women's Country Week.
The 1930 Country Week competition conduct-
ed by the West Australian Women's Hockey As-
sociation was continued on the Esplanade yes-
terday, in weather conditions which were un-
comfortable and unsuitable to a degree. Most
of the players found difficulty in moving on the
soft, slippery and uneven surface of the Esplan-
ade, as they are accustomed to hard country
grounds. This applied especially to teams from
places well inland, such as Boulder.
Katanning, which this year as in previous
years has a notably strong combination, had a
rather easy victory over Bunbury, although the
first quarter of an hour of play was very even.
Thereafter, Katanning assumed control, scoring
seven of its nine goals against the wind. Tood-
yay outplayed Wyalkatchem and district through-
out, but the match between Collie and Narrogin
was close, with luck on the side of the winners.
Wagin had a comfortable win from Boulder, but
the Kondinin, Corrigin and Kulin Association's
victory over Busselton was not so easy as the
scores indicate. Results were: —
Toodyay beat Wyulkatchem and district, 10 -
nil. Goal-scorers: P. Fergus (8), Smith and Gadsdon.
Kondinin, Corrigin and Kulin Association beat
Busselton, 4-1. Goal-scorers: Kondinin, J. Hill
(4); Busselton P. Barnard. Katanning beat Bunbury, 9-nil. Goal-scorers:
B. Meldrum (4), M. Richmond (3), J. Bar-
rott (2). Collie beat Narrogin, 4-2. Goal-scorers: Collie, M. Fogarty, D. King, T. Hunter and E.
Harriss; Narrogin, M.Ness (2). Wagin beat Boulder, 5-nil. Goal-scorers: J.
Cousins (3), F. Holland and V. Bilston.
