The barning calamity at tine Tableland
racecourse was attended, as already re- ;

Wednesday. Before expiring, Travers con-
fessed to firing the thick spinifex which
surrounded them and the tree to which

free. The Coroner's inquest was held
before Mr. 8. L. Burges and Mr. D, K.
MoBae, J's.P., and a jury, who found that
tiie deceased came by their death through
an act of their own in setting fire to the
spinifex. The arresting constable was
exonerated from blame.
Mr. W. D. Cowan, G.B., is leaving by the
s.s. Albany on Sunday for the south on
three months' holiday. Mr. John Brock-
man, J.F., performs the duties:of his office
temporarily.

ger for Fremantle by the Albany.
A man named Tom Campbell has died at
Nullagine from the effects of an overdose
of laudanum.
