SWIMMING.
FIVE NATIONAL CARNIVALS.
Events for Local Contestants.
Full programmes for the five carni-
vals at Crawley Baths which will em-
brace 20 national swimming titles were
issued bv the Board of Control of the
West Australian Amateur Swimming As-
sociation yesterday. Championship
events may have to be changed from one
carnival to another when the interstate
competitors arrive. As announced yes-
terday, arrangements are being made for
extra seating accommodation at the
baths. Competitors in the events which
will be conducted in conjunction with the
national championships should note that
the honorary registrar of the association
(Mr. B. Oliver) will receive entries only
through club secretaries. For the first
carnival, to be held on Saturday, Feb-
ruary 8, entries will close with the hon-
orary registrar at 2 p.m. on February 3.
For the second and third carnivals, to
take place on Tuesday, February 11, and
Thursday, February 13, entries will close
on February 8. Mr. Oliver will be in at-
tendance at Crawley Baths on that after-
noon up to 5 o'clock to receive nomin-
tions. For the last two carnivals, sche-
duled for Saturday, February 15, and
Monday, February 17, entries will close
on Tuesday, February 11, on which day
the honorary registrar will be at the
baths up to 10 p.m. Competitors' passes
for the Saturday afternoon, carnivals will
be issued at the baths up to. 2.15 p.m., and
for the night carnivals up to 7.45 p.m.
After these hours competitors will have
to purchase admission tickets.
Following are the carnival programmes:
Saturday, February 8.—National titles,
110 yards free-style, men; 880 yards free-
style, women; 220 yards breast-stroke,
women; three-metre springboard diving,
men and women. Other events, 110 yards
invitation handicap, 55 yards open han-
dicap, 55 yards open junior handicap.
Tuesday, February 11.—National titles,
110 yards junior free-style, women; 220
yards free-style, men; 440 yards free-
style, women; 110 yards back-stroke,
women. Other events, 110 yards invita-
tion handicap, men; 330 yards State
championship medley race; 220 yards
team handicap of four swimmers per
team; 55 yards handicap; women, toge-
ther with diving exhibitions, in which the
interstate swimmers will participate.
Thursday, February 13.—National titles,
110 yards junior free-style, men; 880
yards free-style, men; 220 yards breast-
stroke, women; 110 yards back-stroke,
men. Other events, 110 yards back
stroke State championship, women; 55
yards junior open handicap; 55 yards in-
vitation handicap; novelty balloon race,
diving exhibitions.
Saturday, February 15.—National titles,
110 yards free-style, women; 440 yards
free-style, men; high tower diving, men
and women. Other events, 110 yards
back-stroke handicap; 55 yards open
handicap; 55 yards handicap, women;
juvenile scratch race, under 12, boys and
girls.
Monday, February 17.—National titles,
220 yards free-style, women; one mile
free-style, men; 330 yards medley, men.
Other events, 55 yards open handicap;
55 yards handicap, women; 55 yards han-
dicap, boys under 12; 660 yards team race,
visitors v. Western Australia, men, six
contestants, to swim 110 yards each; 220
yards team race, visitors v. Western Aus-
tralia, women, four contestants, to swim
55 yards each.
