FEDERAL PARLIAMENT.
Proposed Legislation.
. CANBERRA, May 11.— The Prime Min
ister (Mr. Lyons) announced in the
House of Representatives to-day that after
the discussion of the tariff, a Customs and
JSxcise Tariff Bill would be introduced. It
?would be followed by a Supply Bill, an
Inscribed Stock Bill (which would be
largely a machinery measure), an Ant
arctic Territory Acceptance Bill, and a
Navigation Bill to give effect to an inter
national convention regarding safety at
sea. jMr. Hughes (U.A.P., N.S.W.) would
lie given an opportunity to submit a report
on his work at the League of Nations
Assembly.
The Attorney-General (Mr. Latham) in
formed. Mr. Price (U.A.P., S.A.) that it
?was proposed to introduce before the
House rose legislation to give substantial
effect'to the recommendations of the com
mittee representative of all parties in the
Parliament, which had recently dealt with
the Bankruptcy Act. The report of the
committee was a valuable one. When the
matters with which it dealt were being con
sidered, it was also proposed to introduce
a provision to remove a difficulty which
iwas believed to exist in the operation of
debt adjustments Acts particularly apply
ing to farmers in the various States, in
relation to Federal bankruptcy law.
