GRAND THEATRE.
'Hell's Angels' Season.
'Hell's Angels,' which will commence
a week's j season at the Grand Theatre
to-morrow, begins as light comedy, becomes
wilrllv excitinsr. and ends in traeedy. It
is the story of two brothers at Oxford
who enlist in the Royal' Air Force on
the outbreak of war. One is in love with
a girl whom his philandering and rather
weak young brother finds to be unworthy
of him. This early section of the film

serves as an indication of character more
than anything ' else; and : incidentally i|
has some excellent comedy. The_ brothers*
first experience of war comes with a Zep
pelin raid oh London; then the scene shifts
to France, and the film ends surprisingly
and most effectively after the most amaz
ing aerial spectacle that has been filmed;
Extraordinarily impressive are the
scenes of the German airship over Eng
land, the dropping of the bombs, the pur
suit by British planes, the abandoning
of the observer, and the leap of the crew,
to death to lighten the machine; with the
almost too thrilling climax in which a
British airman plunges his machine into
the great body of the airship, which ex
plodes, breaks asunder, and falls in flames.
James Hall and Ben Lyon as the brothers,
and Jean Harlow as the girl are admirable.
The other players are equally good. The
basis of many incidents of the film will be
recalled; it is said to be in many ways
the most remarkable picture that has come
out of Hollywood. ,
'How Dry We Are,' the supporting
film, presents gangster life in a hilarious
vein. Harry Langdon and Slim Summer
ville were selected for the comedy team,
with. Bessie Love portraying the character
of a cabaret singer and sweetheart of a
Sng leader. The supporting cast includes
itchell Lewis, Stanley Fields, Tom Ken
nedy, Dick Alexander and Lloyd Whit
