A NORTHAM LOTTERY.
To THE EDITOR.
Sir-Please grant us space to correct
the misleading expressions of your correspondent
" Toorak' " in to-day's issue. (1)
The art union is promoted by private
people who are wishful to dispose of certain
properties whereby they may be able
to give some assistance to a worthy undertaking.
(2) The names of the committee
of drawing should be quite sufficient guarantee
that the ark union is being worked
on honourable lines. The name of the
rector appears as a guarantee that funds
are needed to build the rectory; beyond
this the Rev. E. S. Clairs has nothing
whatever to do with the undertaking. Had
"Toorak" applied to the proper quarters
all reasonable information would have
been supplied. Still, we are extremely
obliged to him in securing us a free advertisement
in your widely-circulated paper
whereby the aim and purpose may be made
known of Yours, etc.
THE VENDORS.
