: Things are fairly quiet, and the League
of Nations is settling down to work. Sir.
Joseph Cook and Sir Neville Howsahave
lodged notices of their intention : to ad
dress ': the Assembly. The, former will
probably speak on- the question of dis
armament, and the latter on general mat

A French motion in favour of an im
mediate and drastic reduction in the ex
penditure of the League has caused a
stir in League circles. The opinion of
many of the delegates is that tile salaries
of officials need to be revised. The
agenda paper contains suggestions for a
pensions scheme and a bonus. in connec
tion 'with the cost of living.'
