KAYE DON'S ATTEMPT.
Indefinite Postponement.
DAYTONA BEACH (Florida), April 11.
—Mr. Kaye Don, the famous English racing
motorist, decided to-day to postpone in
definitely his attempt to break the world's
automobile speed record, wmen is at pre
sent held by Sir Henry Segrave, who at
tained a speed of 231 miles an hour. Mr.
Don denied that he had given up attempts
on the record, but there is a well-defined
feeling here that yesterday's attempt is his
last for. the season. Mr. Don has booked a
passage from New York on the Aquitania,
to sail on April 16, and it is understood
that a conference will be held to-night at
which he will be requested to state his
exact intentions before interested persons.
Mr. Warren Baker, a course steward and
representative of the American Automobile
Association, said to-day: 'I am ready to
assume full responsibility for keeping Mr.
Don off the beach.' Since then he himself
inspected the beach and ruled it unsafe.
Asked if he proposed another run tomor
row, Mr. Don replied, 'I will not stay here
until Christmas. I' have a party on at
home then.'
