TELEGRAMS..
INTERCOLONIAL.
VICTORIA.
THE FEDERAL COUNCIL.
MELBOURNE; November 3.
When the Act constituting the Federal
Council was passed it was provided that
meetings should be held every two years,
or otherwise the Council would become
extinct. Mr. Turner, as Chairman of the
Standing Committee, has been directing
his attention to the matter, and as the
two years will expire on the 8th of
February, 1897, he has asked the representatives
of the colonies to assemble at
Hobart on the 26th of January. All the
colonies taking part in the Council have
agreed to that date, and it has accordingly
been definitely fixed.
