Melbourne, September 19.
The council nave adopted an address
in reply to the Governor's message. The
Council regret the difference, but disclaim
being the cause of the stoppage. They
fear railways cannot be extended without
further taxation. They are still ready to
discuss the matter, and are ready to pass
the Appropriation Bill without the Darling
vote.
Brandies are firm. Little business was
done to-day. Cornsacks are firmer.
The Assembly have passed an address
to His Excellency.
The Egremont and Tararua have arrived
from .New Zealand. The former brings
11,000 ounces gold, and the latter 5,600.
