1 WORK QN URANIUM
What Desk Revealed
WEST ORANGE (New Jer
sey),' Sunday.— Thomas A. Edi-
apn, whose genius . gave . the
world many boons, Including
electric light, was apparently
experimenting with uranium
before his death.
AMONG the effects found in a
A desk which has been locked
since his death, and which has
been opened In connection with
the observance of the anniversary
of his birth 100 years ago, was a
test tube containing uranium
nitrate.
Also found In his desk was a
small roll of substance which Is
believed to be a sample of golden
rod rubber. Edison was working on
making rubber from golden rod
weeds when he died.
It is not known what he was
doing with the uranium, but It is
hoped that some clue may be
found in a voluminous sheaf of
papers found In the desk. The
desk was opened .by a son of
Charles Edison, In the presence of
his mother and a group of friends.
Two fountain pens which were
found in the desk were Im
mediately opened to test the mes
sage two mediums claimed to have
received a few years after: Edison's
death, that- he had hidden a
momentous message to the world
in the fountain pens. The pens
