British "Not To Be
Pushed Around"

ADEN, Friday.
Sir Hartley Shawcross former ?
British Attorney-General, told
Aden Supreme Court to-day that
British interests were not to be
flouted or British subjects pushed
around.- , ,
Sir Hartley, appearing for the
Anglo Iranian Oil Company, was
making his final speech in the
test case on the ownership of
Persian oil.
Judgment was reserved until
January 9.
The Anglo-Iranian Oil Company
claimed that Persian oil
aboard the tanker Rose Mary
now detained at Aden, belongs to
the company.
Sir Hartley Shawcross said:
"It is high time that it should be
firmly asserted once again that
British interests are not to be
flouted, and that British subjects,
are not to be pushed around in
defiance of international law by
foreign states, which think it
good to disregard solemn undertakings
they have previously
given,"
