' "GUINEA GOLD"
A recent copy of that excellent
little newspaper "Guinea Gold" pub
lished in, the field, in New Guinea,
has a paragraph about the Boonah
War Loan Rally. It states: "Resi
dents of Boonah on Monday proved
that the American idea of attracting
loan subscriptions by providing poten
tial buyers with melody, mirth, and
a touch of glamour, has an appeal for
some Australians. To Boonah went
well-known comedian Will Mahoney,
soubrette Evie Hayes and a small
stage company. Th.ey provided a spec
ial free concert for residents, then
sought subscriptions for the Liberty
Loan. . . . The total for the day ex
ceeded £10,000."
LABOUR DAY.
We are advised that shops will be
closed on Monday next (Labour Day).
