The New Accessories. — Gloves
are highlighted at all the fash-
Ion parades in London and
Paris this season. One de-
signer shows shoulder-lengtn
gloves which button on to the
dress, while anotner features a
pair, which actually form a
scarf. One of the most sinking
nf the glove novelties Is shown
by a Paris designer. This pair
continues over the shoulders
of the dress and Into the back
to form a semi-bolero.
Straw Is an Important trim
ming this season. The hats arc
accented in wood shaving
plumes and sequins, lacquered
to a mother-of-pearl shine.
The same idea Is used for
glove trimmings.
Straw, raffia and wood shav
ings are embroidered on linen
and Shantung gloves for wear
with dresses in the same fab
ric.
Straw cuffs are used on kid
gloves to match sailor hats.
Last season's straw and raffia
bags have found a new friend
In wicker. Molyneux pads a
wicker fishing bag In bright
print. A favourite design is a
deep shell shaped bag in
wicker which has a matching
belt.
A flat carry-all bag is cov
ered with fishnet and topped
with a bracelet handle, while
one priz:-winning bag, de
signed by Roney, is made es
pecially for the traveller. It
opens on top and at both sides.
The top portion is a tiny- fitted
case in itself. One side Is fitted
with ample pockets while the
other side has space for pack
ing. This bag, made In croco
dile with gold plated fittings,
costs £70.

The Problem -of "Goose-
flesh". — Though "gooseflesh" is
not the result of dirt on the
skin, it can be cured by vig
orous scrubbing. Women with
"gooseflesh" generally have
poor blood circulation and all
the treatment needed to cure
It is a little exercise and a
thorough, massaging of the af
fected parts of the body, which
are chiefly the arms and legs.
The cure is simple and it does
not take muoh time to carry
out. Furthermore it -does not
take long to show good results.
To-banls'n "gooseflesh" take an
ordinary nail brush and scrub
the arms and legs thoroughly.
If the bristles are very hard,
rub some soap on the brush so
that it does not hurt unduly.
When drying the legs and arms
use a rough, dry towel. After a
few weeks of this treatment
"gooseflesh" should have com
pletely disappeared. If it still
persists then the fault does not
lie solely in poor circulation
but in the lack of calcium iq
the blood.
The Problem of a Red Nose.
— With the first cold spells
comes the complaint of a red
nose, the fault and remedy of
which lie In the condition of
the health. A red nose points
to digestive troubles and a poor
circulation. Of course while
these Internal faults are being
attended to a red- nose can be
camouflaged by using a shade,
deeper powder on the nose
than that applied to the rest
of the face.

Cook Says. — To make a de
licious lemon sauce warm two
tablespoonfuls of butter and
add one teaspoonful of chopped
parsley. Work this into the
butter and add slowly one tea-
spoonful of lemon juice or
vinegar, working the butter
during the addition. Add pep
per or cayenne according to
taste.
Hot Cross Buns. — Take one
and a half pounds of flour, |
two ounces of butter, two i
ounces of sugar, four ounces I
of sultanas, two egg yolks, one
ounce of yeast, one teaspoonful
of salt, three-quarters of a pint
of milk, one- teaspoonful of
mixed spice and one "easpoon-
ful of grated lemon peel.
" Melt the butter In a sauce
pan with the milk, and when
lukewarm mix It with the
crumbled yeast and a tea
spoonful of Hie sugar/Stand In
a warm place. Sieve the flour,
salt, and spice together. Add
to this the yeast mixture 'and
mix to a smooth dough. Cover
and stand in a warm place for
one hour. Add the sugar, sul
tanas, and slightly beaten egg
yolks to the dough and knead
lightly for five minutes. Divide,
and diape into small buns and
form a cross with the.bnck of a
knife on each. Place these on
a greased baking tin, cover,
and let stand In a warm place
for half en hour. Bake In a hot
oven, from 15 to 20 minutes.
Just before removing from tin,
brush buns with syrup (made
by boiling half a cup of sugar
and half a cup of water to-,
gether), and return to oven for
a few minutes to glaze.
