General Remarks.—The great ligh-preszure
system, which still covers all Australia and Tas
mania, is nevertheless making some casting. The
nucleus, over which the barometer roads between
00* and 00-5, now lies over the heart of New
South Wales. The “ new” low-pressure system,
to which referenco has already been made, now
lies about Int. Odeg. S. arid long. 127deg. E.,
and is strenuously endeavouring to push its way
towards the South Australian coast line against
the high-pressure. This state of matters has had
the alfeet of steepening the gradients over South
Australia, and causing strong northerly winds in
that province. Unfortunately our information
from Now Zealand has not yet (6 p.m.) reached
