DEATH OF LADY EDITH
FERGUSSON.
It is with deep regret we announce the death
of Lady Edith Ferguson, which took place
this morning at 1 o'clock, at the resi-
dence of the Hon. John Hart , Lefevre's
Peninsula. From the time of her ar-
rival in this colony Lady Edith has ap-
peared to be of a very delicate constitution,
and since the birth of her youngest child, in
April last, has been almost constantly in bad
health. Recently she has been staying at
Glanville Hall, the residence of the Treasurer,
hoping that the change of air might have a
beneficial effect; but in spite of the
assiduous attention of her medical advisers
Her Ladyship gradually sank. On Sunday
her children and other relatives were, at her
request, summoned to bid her farewell, and it
was then evident that the end was approaching.
The greatest sympathy will be felt throughout
the colony with His Excellency and his family
in this painful bereavement. Lady Edith
Christian Ramsay was younger daughter of
James Andrew Ramsay, Knight, Tenth Earl
and First Marquis of Dalhousie, late Viceroy of
India. She married Sir James Fergusson,
Bart., on 9th August, 1859, and leaves four
children.
