PORT-ROAD.
Messrs. H. Hunwick, M. Harrighay, S.
Coombe, and W. Parfitt, attended as a deputa-
tion complaining of the obstruction caused in
front of the Globe Hotel, Bowden, in conse-
quence of the encroachment of the fencing of
the yard at the Hindmarsh Toll-house, on the
Port-road, and regretting that, notwithstanding
the repeal of the Port-road Toll Act, the fences
at the back of the Toll-house were allowed to
remain, obstructing the thoroughfare to the
property along the Port-road frontage ; and
mentioning that in addition to this a stockyard
was being put up which further obstructed the
thoroughfare, depreciated the value of the
property around, and was especially injurious
to the interests of the landlord of the Globe
Hotel. The deputation urged that immediate
steps should be taken to remove the obstruc-
tions, and that any further encroachment might
be prevented. The Board decided that all the
fencing should be removed, excepting the
original portion behind the Toll-house, and also
that the piece of fencing between the original
yard and the Globe Hotel should be removed.

Mr. N. Blyth, M.P.. presented a memorial
from 52 residsmt* of tbe Hundreds of Beyntmr,
Malcolm, and Bonney, calling attention to the
impanab'js state of certain portions of the
overland road between Wellington and Me

inconvenience and loss were sustained by them
and those who travelled on the road; also more
particularly calling attention to the wont part
of the road, vis., that ailuited between the
property of Mr. Davenpjrt and that of Mr.
HcFarlane, known «s tbe Blind Creek, which
in its present state was dangerous atd an ob
struction to tiaffis, frequently necessitating
persons to adopt a circuitous route of IS addi
tional miles. Th? memorialists suggested the
desirability of the said portion being inspected
by the Board's Surveyor, with the view of hiv
ing the evil remedied without delay.
The Board stated, thit they had no funds
available at present for th* purpose.

had asiigned, viz, that tbe stone was measured
