BONOS CERTIFICATES
By State Insurance
APPROVAL OF ISSUE
BRISBANE, Wednesday. — Approval
of the issue of bonus certificates by
the State Insurance Commissioner
was given by the Treasurer (Mr. F. A.
Cooper) to-day. Preliminary results
of the actuarial valuation for the year
ended December 31, 1937, said Mr.
Cooper, had been received from the
actuary (Mr. T. W. Bremner). The
funds now totalled £3,792,800, and
after liabilities were deducted, the
surplus would be allowed to reversion
ary bonuses on the following basis:
Whole life policies, £2/8/- per £100 in
sured; endowment assurances and
pure endowment term, 35 years and
over, £2; 20 years and under 35 years,
£1/12/-; under 20 years, £1/4/-. The
system of fractional bonuses, he added,
was now discontinued, and bonus cer
tificates for the full amount shown
above would be issued for all "with
profit" policies taken out in 1937, irre
spective of the date of commencement
of the policy.
