sent communications yestorday to the
Acting Prlmo Minister (Dr. Earle
Page) and the Premier of Queensland
(Mr. Theodore) to the effect that the

quite prepared to allow the Queensland
Government to step across tha border
and construct the piece of railway be
tween Murwlliumbah and Tweed
Heads.
The letter to the Acting Prime Minister
draws attention to the fact that Dr.
Earle Page is credited with having said
at a civic reception held in Lisniore that
“Mr. Theodore, the Premier of Queensland,
had informed you that he was willing to
step across the bolder and construct this
piece of railway. So far as the Govern
ment of New South Wales concerned,’1
writes Sir George Fuller. “ I wish to let
you know that we will be only too will
ing to allow Mr. Theodore to carry out
the work, in accordance with the wish he
expressed to you. This would be in keep
ing with the agreement which has been
entered into between Victoria and New
South Wales with regard to border rail
ways. Further, Mr. Theodore was in
formed some time ago that New South
Wales was willing to enter into such an
agreement with regard to districts in the
northern part of the State. I am writing
ngaiu to him, informing him that New
South Wales is quite prepared to allow him
to proceed,"
The letter to the Queensland Premier
expressed the willingness of the New
South Wales Government to enter into an
'agreement with Queensland on the lines
indicated.
