A telegram received from Melbourne last
night stated that Senator Needhom had
been coefned to his bed at his home in St.
Kilda for a week suffering from an aggri
vated form of neuritis.
Lieutenant-Pharmacist L. O. Sargent, who
has been on active service with the A.I.F.,
is returning on the 1914 leave, and is er
pected to arrive by the Wyandra shortly.
Mr. S. Stubbs, M.L.A., who recently un
derwent an operation at Nurse Anderson's
hospital was reported yesterday to be pro
greassing favourably. Durmng his illness the
public duties connected with Mr. Stubbs's
constituency will be attended to by Mr
A. Thomson, M.L.A.
Mr. James Irvino Scott, of Dromard,
Livingstone-road, Marrickville (says an
Eas:ern States paper), died a few days ago,
after a short illness, in his eighty-fourth
year. He was one of the oldest residents
of Moarrickville, and a colonist of over 70
years, being a native of Irvinestown, Counsty
Fermanagh, Ireland. He has left a family
of five daughters, who include Mrs. F. O.
Gaze end Mrs. T. 0. Gane (both of Western
Australia). Mr. F. O. Gaze is a War ChesT.
