NEWCASTLE, Friday.— !
A home-made bomb was
discovered in a car owned
by Newcastle Scout Com-
missioner (Mr. S. C. Mc-
Crum) and parked in Mur
ray St., Hamilton, last
night.
The bomb was improvised
from a half-gallon glass jar
of petrol, with two detonators.
A fuse was burning at the
time of the discovery.
Brian Galloway, of Mere-
wether, saw smoke issuing from
the car and informed Mr. Mc-
Crum.
Mr. McCrurn rushed to the
car and tore away the burn
ing fuse, which was smoulder
ing only five inches from the
improvised "bomb."
The glass jar was wrapped
in a newspaper.

Detectives J. T. Duffell and
D. Freuderistein, of Newcastle,
are investigating.
Mr. McCrum told the police
he could not suggest why any
one would want to harm his
car.
Det.-Sgt. R. Whalan, who is
in charge of investigations, said
that police could find no
motive.
