His Excellency the Governor (Sir William
Ellison-Macartney) was present yesterday
afternoon at the unveiling of the portrait
of the late Major Black at the Soldiers'
Institute. This evening he will attend a
'meeting of the Institute of Architects at
the Savoy Hotel, and to-morrow (Tuesday)
evening a concert in aid of the Trench
ºComforts Fund at Government House ball
room. On Wednesda- morning he will open
the Westralian Farmers' Conference at St.
George's Hall.
Our Kalgoorlie correspondent telegraphed
yesterday that the Federal Minister for
Works and Railways (Mr. Watt) arrived on
Saturday morning, and was accorded a civic
reception In the afternoon he rtoeived
several deputations regarding departmental
matters, and made an inspection of the
workshops at Parkeston. On Sunday morn
ing the Minister and the members of his
party left for Port Augusta.
The Prime Minister (Mr. Hughes) left
'Melbourne for Sydney on Saturday. He
will be absent for. about ten days.
