BAGOT-ROAD, SfJBIACO.
To the EditSor. /
Sir,-Permit me to trespass on your
space in regard to a trifling matter
appertaining to the comfort of' 'certain
Subiaco, residents.: . I say : trifling, but
life is made .up of trifles, and a continued
annoyance, however small it' be, is respan
sible for much nervousness and discontent
which would-be better avoided., During my
sojourn in 'this pleasant city, I, am living in
Bagot-road, Subiaco, which thoroughfare has
been plantedwith agreeable' pink-berried
trees.. Far ,be it from me to oomplain of
them in 'bulk, but I am not short. I am
sure dour readers will agree' that 691 inches
is a very reasonable height for one of the
weaker sex-and-as I take my bi-daily walks
in Bagot-roed ' the spreading branches on the
pavement side of the trees, reach down in a:
strenuous endeavour to take me, Absalom-'
like, byj'the hair. Failing in this, they
wreak their vengeance on my hat, invari
ably disarranging it to a more or less de
gree.. Would it not be possible to have these
overhanging branches 'trimmed off to a cer
tain height Surely some of the tram-atch
ing dwellers in. Bagotroad la .been an
noyed 'i .a .like manner. ,
There is yet another discomfort which I
wish to mention-a rather more serious one.
I speak of the pavement of the aforemen
tioned thoroughfare-or, to be precise, of
that portion of it betweed: Hensman-road
and Rokeby-road. It is full of snares and
pitfalls for the-unwary. Holes the size of. a
large flower pot stud it at irregular intervals;
at night, especially when one is hurrying to
wards the elusively infrequent trains, it.js
almost impossible to avoid these holes, and
a nasty accident may easily result from in
advertence-let alone the shock to one's
nerves and temper arising fromi the fact that
the solid ground has, if not failed, at any
rate descended beneath one's, feet.
Possibly both these small defects will be
remedied before I leave Perth; and the com
fort of the surrounding residents consider
ably enhanced in consequence.-Yours, etc.,
Subiaco, April 6." JE VIS EN ESPOIR.
