With the ship's nurse, Miss Kay Jacomb, four orphans-Rose Hopgood (ll), back right, Ruth (9), Shirley, and David (8) eagerly look over Sydney from the deck of the Largs Bay. Their passage was promised by the late Mr Curtin, former Prime Minister, after their aunt, Mrs Westrey, of Victoria, had the matter raised in Federal Parliament. The children were orphan- ed during the blitz when a bomb killed their mother, father, and three brothers. Help
