NEW COUNCIL CONSTITUTION.
Adelaide, July 30.
Last Easter a conference of delegates from
each of the State Bowling Associations was
held at Sydney to consider the advisableness
of forming a council to govern, the game of
bowls in Australia. An affirmative resolu,
tion was carried, and the constitution, as
drafted by Mr. S. J. Jacobs (president of tha
South Australian Association) was unani.
mously agreed to by the delegates, subject
to the approval of their associations. It
was arranged that the various bodies should
communicate their decisions to Mr. Clarencao
Moody, of Adelaide, and that if by July 31
at least four States agreed to the constitu'
tion Mr. Moody should convene the first
meeting of the council. The associations of
Victoria, Queensland, South Australia, and
lTasmania have intimated that Lhey ale
prepared to adopt the constitution as
drafted in Sydney, and the Iiw Scuth
Wales Association is prepared to join
the council if certain ameolments are
agreed to. Most of these are cemn
paratively unimportant, but one seeks te
limit the council's control of the laws govern,
ing the game to international and interstate
matches. The Western Australian Associa'
tion will not meet for a week or so to con,
sider the constitution. Mr. Moody states
that he will convene a meeting of the council
to be ield in Melbourne about a month
hence.
