A REJECTED LOVER.
ATTEMPTS TO SHOOT A GIRL.
Melbourne, June 15.
At the Criminal Court to-day Charles
Camp, a young man, was charged with
attempting to murder Margaret O'Dea. a
girl, at Dandenong. The accused pointed
a ritle at ODea, who had refused Ills atten
tions. A young man named O'Brien
closed with theaccused, and in the struggle
that ensued the rifle went ofll The jury
found Camp guilty of an attempt to 6hoot
with intent to do grievous bodily harm.
Mr. Justice x'Beckett remarked that had
it not been for O'Brieu the prisoner
might have been on his trial for murder,
and sentenced the accused to two years'
imprisonment with hard labor with terms
of solitary.confinement.
