CON DEVON AND MAMBURDI
MELBOURNE, June 27.
QTARTING at 50 to 1, and ridden by K. Voitre, Brown
Ben created a surprise when he got up in the last few
strides, and defeated Comic March in the second division
of the Flying Welter at Caulfield today. The chief race, the
Hospital Handicap, was won by Con Devon, who defeated
Panopeus and Hardwood.
Y^AXJSARD, the Tasmanlan-owned and
.,: trained marc, was.glven an outing in
the Orphanage Handicap, but met with a
check carly in, tho race, and finished laBt.
That event went to Great Saint. Mam-
burdi, who was sent out favourite for the
Trial Hurdle Race,' scored a comfortable
