EXEMPTIONS WILL
DE INVESTIGATED
Testimonials Seeking Free
High School Education Will
Be Revised
As a result of the passage by
the municipal board yesterday aft
ernoon. of a motion by Councilor
Celestino Ramos seeking to re-
quest Mayor Juan Posadas to or
der a revision of testimonials ask
ing for exemptions in the pay
ment of matriculation fees in thie
public schools, many cases of dis
crimination may be unearthed
when the revision is started.
I It is reported that at least two
councilors have admitted that
there are now in the city high
schools a number of pupils exempt
ed from paying tuition fees al
though they are children of well-
to-do families.

father to exempt her from paying
her tuition, fees because he is earn
ing a gmall salary and has many
children has been granted, reveal
ed to newspapermen who happen
ed to be in the office that two
classmates of hers who are well-
to-do have been exempted while
she was not.
Similar oases will be brought to
light when the revision Is made, a
City Hall employee said.
Daily, many high school students
troop to the office of the assistant
secretary to Mayor Posadas to look
for themselves the lists of ex-
! emptions. When asked if their
l school does not post the lists on
its bulletin boards, they replied
that either the listls are incomplete
or are posted very late.
